Design Colors

Blue is calming and cool. It is the most popular color because it symbolizes the sky and heaven. Those who like blue are trustworthy, loyal, friendly and strong. Because of its calming power, blue works well in the bedroom.*

Yellow represents happiness, optimism, inspiration and summer. Those who like yellow are attracted to what’s new and modern. Pale yellow can bring a sunny feel to a space without being overwhelming to the eye.*

Both colors have their positive and negative attributes but based on this description. Which color would fit best to a summer fun treat experience. Blue is calming, Yellow represents happiness. What is the message between the two trucks. The Tikiz Truck is bright and yellow while the Kona Ice truck is blue. I guess a franchisee would have to decide do they want customers happy and optimistic. Or do they want customers calm and friendly. Territory Size

Kona Ice Territory is 50,000 population smaller Than Tikiz Shave Ice and Ice cream. Most towns in America are less than 50,000 population. Most of these small towns have very successful business. Imagine buying a business that eliminated an entire town of a potential revenue stream.

If business a has 200,000 people to sell to and Business B has 150,000 to sell too. Whom will have the advantage in total sales. Also see Kona VS Tikiz Investment Cost Comparison for a more detailed break-down of just how devastating territory constraints can be.

To go a step further lets assume a small restaurant in a town of 50,000 population only makes $5,000 per month. In 12 months that is $60,000 in revenue, in 10 years that is $600,000 in revenue.

Lets go one step further lets say they only make $1,000 per month in revenue. In 12 months that is $12,000 in revenue. In ten years that is $120,000 in revenue. Lets go one more step down and lets say they make $500 per month. In 12 months that is $6,000 in revenue. In ten years that is $60,000 in revenue.

If the restaurant only make $500 per month in that town of 50,000 population, in a year it would still be $6,000 in more sales. If we apply this logic to the Kona Vs Tikiz territory size.

With Kona having a 50,000 less population territory It could cost a lot of money to own a Kona over a Tikiz. Territory is key. I am sure everyone has heard the phrase, location, location, location.

If you are not making money due to a smaller territory then you are losing that money. The price difference is $5,000 between the territories of Kona and Tikiz with a population difference of 50,000 people. But the real cost could be hundred of thousands more for a Kona vs a Tikiz Franchise due to Kona having a smaller territory. Also see The benefits of starting your own business on tikiz

Population of Franchise

Having a franchise in every town is not a good thing for a new franchisee. Have you ever heard the term ground floor. Tikiz is still in the ground floor. Kona has 800 units across the country. It is safe to say you have more potential to grow Tikiz long term. Also see Kona VS Tikiz Investment Cost Comparison for a more detailed break-down of just how devastating territory constraints can be.

Which sound more enjoyable, owning 3 trucks in a territory of 600,000 or owning 1 of 3 trucks in a territory of 450,000. With the sucess of Kona Ice since 2008 they have very little options less for territory. With Tikiz a potential franchise can almost pick his location. A Tikiz franchisee can get in now and grow with the country.

Having a Kona in every town is a good thing for Tikiz. They have already done the leg work of selling the accounts. They have taught the public to hire a Kona Ice Truck and Kona will give money back to their cause. This model works and is working around the country.

Tikiz has advantage in this area because people are tired of the same old thing. Tikiz bright yellow colors and standard ice cream options bring a new level of fun and excitement. People are eager to try something new.
